CARIES TREATMENT (filling)

45 - 60 minutes

Caries involves enamel destruction at the early stage, and if left untreated, it can lead to complete tooth loss. Initially, demineralization of the enamel occurs, followed by dentin softening and cavity formation. If you notice caries, do not delay treatment. Our dentists will perform an examination, diagnostics, and treatment quickly, efficiently, and painlessly.

Why does caries appear?

This is the most common disease, affecting over 90% of people at any age. Various factors influence the onset and development of caries:

  • heredity;
  • anatomical anomalies of the tooth row;
  • poor oral hygiene;
  • deficiency of vitamins and minerals;
  • weakened immunity;
  • unhealthy eating habits;
  • gastrointestinal disorders.

Usually, caries develops slowly, so the tooth can suffer for months. First, enamel is destroyed, then the process reaches the dentin and pulp. Caries can only be detected by a dentist during a preventive check-up. An X-ray helps determine its extent. For complex cases, the dentist may recommend a 3D jaw scan. The best treatment option is filling.

Stages of caries development:

  1. Initial caries – first stage, reversible process;
  2. Surface caries – cavity formation;
  3. Medium stage – caries reaches the dentin;
  4. Deep caries – defect reaches the pulp, causing pain and possibly requiring root canal treatment.

The first sign is a white spot on the tooth, which may go unnoticed. Over time, caries progresses, and a cavity forms. As soon as you notice this, see a dentist immediately.

Moderate caries treatment is done in one visit and takes 45 minutes to several hours (depending on complexity). The dentist removes the damaged area and fills the tooth.

Symptoms of deep caries:

  • Sudden pain when eating cold or hot foods;
  • Carious cavity where food debris accumulates;
  • Caries reaching the gum area (darkening near the root on an X-ray);
  • Constant toothache, worse at night.

In such cases, treatment and aesthetic restoration may take several visits. In advanced stages, anesthesia is mandatory.

The cost of treatment depends on the severity of the disease and the method used and is calculated at the clinic after all necessary procedures.
